The Significant Other Festival

The Significant Other Festival is an annual festival of 10, 10 minute plays created in just 10 days.
This year they are back with the 9th Significant Other Festival at The Vaults Theatre in London with Performances: 17th – 21st April 2018.
Applications are now open for Writers, Actors and Assistant Directors. 10 writers will create their 10 minute masterpiece, joined by 10 directors and 30 actors – all in 10 days. 10 original works will be created around the theme “the significant other”.
Application details for Writers
If you are chosen for the project, you will be asked to write a 10 minute play for 3 actors in the course of 5 days (7th – 11th April). The theme is the “significant other” however there will be other elements and limitations which will be allocated at the Inspiration Session on Saturday 7th April. The play must be written for 3 actors – gender and age will be determined at the Inspiration Session. During the 5 days of writing, you will be asked to submit your writing as you proceed. Please note that there will be some feedback and dramaturgy required during your process with the producers.
You must also supply an excerpt of a piece of your writing (plays are preferred, maximum 4 pages) as well as a cover letter/statement (maximum 1 page) with details as to why you would like to be involved and if you have any previous theatrical experience. Tip: They are interested in character based writing that reflects their mission statement.

Deadline: 1st July 2019. The High Sheriff's Cheshire Prize for Literature 2019 is for Scriptwriting. It's open to writers who are in, from, study, studied, work or worked in Cheshire.
Deadline: 30th June 2019. Submissions are open at Dark Unicorn to writers worldwide to submit new works for stage to them for consideration for a future production relationship around the company's other work on revivals of major plays, which have something to say to contemporary audiences.
Deadline: 5th June 2019 at 6pm. The Prize is an opportunity for writers of any background and experience to enter unperformed plays to be judged by a panel of industry experts for a chance to win part of a prize fund totalling £40,000.
