Papatango New Writing Prize | Papatango & Southwark Playhouse | Deadline: 9pm on 17th February 2019

The 2019 Papatango New Writing Prize is now open for submissions of new plays until 9pm on 17th February 2019. 

The winner of the Prize will develop their play with Papatango over several months, building towards a four week production at Southwark Playhouse in autumn 2019. The script will be published by Nick Hern Books. The writer will receive a royalty of 10% of the gross box office income. Following the production, the writer will be paid a £6000 commission to create a new play with development support from Papatango.

All entrants will be able to opt-in to receive feedback if they wish; please make this clear when submitting your script.

Anyone resident in the UK or Ireland is eligible to enter. It is free, and all scripts are assessed anonymously. There is no age limit.

Previous Prize-winners have gone on to earn BAFTAs, Offies and RNT Foundation awards, premiere in over 20 countries, and receive commissions or productions from the National Theatre, RSC, Headlong, BBC, HBO, Hampstead Theatre, Bush Theatre and the Royal & Derngate.

They are aiming to produce and present 12 shows in 12 months and are accepting submissions from playwrights, authors and poets and anyone who wants to write, from 3 act plays to experimental explorations. They will provide a space, cast and creative team, workshop and develop your work. All abilities and subject matter welcome.
