Our remit is scriptwriting so in general we can't promote opportunities from organisations outside the BBC which are for novel writing, short stories, poetry etc. We can only promote opportunities which are free to enter.

Deadline: 5th November 2018. The Ink Festival gives writers, with a past or present connection to East Anglia, the chance to have their plays professionally produced and performed at the 2019 INK Festival. The categories are: short plays, radio plays, themed plays, musical theatre and young writer.

Discovery is Kali’s free writing programme for aspiring playwrights in the East Midlands, West Midlands and London run in partnership with Birmingham Rep, Leicester Curve and London's Pleasance Theatre. Open to UK based women writers of South Asian descent who are eligible to live and work in the UK.
Deadline: 5th August 2018 at noon. In this inaugural year, the Lancaster Playwriting Prize is focused on BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee) playwrights. The aim is not just to discover new voices, but to empower playwrights from culturally diverse backgrounds in general by building skills, confidence and networks.

Deadline: 30th August 2018. Little Wonder are an anglophone full cast audio drama production company based in Paris. They are looking for new writers for their 2019 season of radio/audio plays. Submit scripts in English for up to 4 actors. 5 plays will be performed and 1 published for download.
Deadline: 3rd August 2018. The Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Playwright's Programme is a free course for writers and theatre makers in the Liverpool City Region. Each year, up to ten writers are invited to join the programme to hone their playwriting skills and knowledge, with a view to write a full length stage play.

Submissions are now open to UK based playwrights for the London Horror Festival 2018 Playwriting Competition, in association with the Old Red Lion Theatre and Danse Macabre Productions. In celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the publication of Frankenstein by horror icon Mary Shelley, the theme for the playwriting competition is Women in Horror.
Event: 18th - 21st July 2018. London writers' week aims to be an annual showcase of the best ideas surrounding and going into new writing. The theme for 2018 is film and the week will include sessions on playwriting and film, digital media and film, television and film, film and other areas such as getting and keeping an agent.
Deadline: 31st August 2018. People’s Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne is pleased to announce the latest People’s Play competition. This award is aimed at playwrights from the North of England who are yet to have a full-length play performed professionally.

Deadline: 1st August 2018 & 15th September 2018. Shifft Script Lab is a writing lab for female and non-binary screenwriters in Wales. It provides the opportunity to share and receive feedback on work in development and provides peer and mentor feedback and actor reading sessions.
Deadline: 9th July 2018 (writers) 23rd July 2018 (illustrators). Penguin Random House UK is looking to find, mentor, and ultimately publish new writers and illustrators from communities that are under-represented on the nation’s bookshelves. This includes writers and illustrators from a socio-economically marginalised background, LGBTQ or BAME writers, or writers and illustrators with a disability.
