The
Rights of the Child
The
United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted
to protect children caught in conflicts throughout the world.
Recently it celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Has the Convention had any real impact on the lives of children
across the globe? BBC World Service reporters visited war
zones on several continents to investigate what is happening
to children.
Here, you can hear the children tell their own stories and
read our analysis of the difficulties they face.
The 'how to help' section has information about local and
international organisations trying to help children whose
basic rights have been violated.
The
multimedia Children of Conflict initiative was produced with
the assistance of UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for
Refugees) and the Human Rights Fund of the British Foreign
and Commonwealth Office.
Listen
to UN Special Representative, Olara Otunnu talk about
Children of Conflict at the end of the Millennium.
