ERNA VON DER WALDE
In 1981, Erna von der Walde obtained a B.A. in Philosophy and Literature at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. In 1984, she completed her M.A. degree in English at University of Warwick, United Kingdom, and in 1999, a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures at University of Frankfurt. She received a grant from the British Council in 1983.
She is currently an Assistant Professor at New York University's Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures department. Her major Interests are 19th and 20th century Latin American literature, cultural and post-colonial theories, Latin American intellectual history, and representations of violence.
