Jaspreet Singh’s first novel, Chef, is the story of two cooks in the Indian army serving in Kashmir.

The novel explores the India-Pakistan conflict through the eyes of Kirpal, posted to the base of the Siachen Glacier, the coldest battlefield in the world at 20,000 feet.

Jaspreet Singh tells Bidisha about his enduring connection to Kashmir and how he learned to cook in order to write the book.
