    Yellow warning of rain
    From
06:00 BST on Sat 26 May
    To
23:59 BST on Sat 26 May

Headline: Heavy showers and thunderstorms will affect parts of Southern Britain on Saturday - particularly during Saturday evening.

What To Expect: There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.

Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads, there is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

Very warm and humid conditions will lead to thunderstorms developing across parts of Southern England, the South and West Midlands and Wales on Saturday.

Whilst many will miss the worst of the heavy rain the thunderstorms that develop will produce torrential rain and hail therefore some places could see up to 30 mm falling in an hour.

The warning has been updated to just cover Saturday with a new warning for Sunday and into Monday morning also in force.

  2. Yellow warning of rain

Updated 26 May at 10:43 BST
    Yellow warning of rain
    From
00:00 BST on Sun 27 May
    To
06:00 BST on Mon 28 May

Headline: Thunderstorms will continue to affect parts of Wales, southern and central England through Sunday and into Monday morning.

What To Expect: Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures and some communities might become cut off if roads flood.

Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

Thunderstorms will continue to develop over the southern half of the UK throughout Sunday with some of these persisting into Monday morning.

Whilst many areas will see small amounts of rain a few locations may see some very large totals with 30 mm possible within an hour and perhaps up to 80 mm in 3 hours. Along with this hail and thunder are likely as well as some locally strong gusts.

Perhaps the most likely time and location for seeing these severe thunderstorms is over parts of Wales and extending southeastwards into southern parts of the Midlands during Sunday afternoon.
