Shakespeare Week - Teaching Resources

A collection of Shakespeare-themed teaching resources for primary and secondary schools which can be used to celebrate this year's Shakespeare week, which takes place 16 - 22 March.

Shakespeare Week is an annual national celebration of William Shakespeare, giving pupils the chance to explore his characters, stories and language.

Highlights from this collection include:

  • Shakespeare's plays told through series of exciting animated videos for primary schools.
  • Key scenes from Shakespeare's plays explored through performance and unlocked by actors and directors at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
  • A documentary with CBBC Newsround's Leah and Ricky, exploring the world in which Shakespeare lived.
  • Shakespeare's most famous plays brought to life through song.
Who was William Shakespeare? In this short film for primary schools CBBC Newsround’s Leah and Ricky investigate Shakespeare’s life, visiting the Globe Theatre and speaking to experts to find out more about the great writer.
