MUSIC: ‘LISTEN ALL AROUND’ SONG
PRESENTER: Listen carefully to these three sounds. Can you say which is the odd one out?
FX: DOG 1 / HORSE / DOG 2
PRESENTER: Which sound is the odd one out?
CHILDREN: he horse is the odd one out! / Because the other two are both dogs!
PRESENTER: Listen carefully again. Can you say which of these three sounds is the odd one out?
FX: DOG BARKS / TRAIN PASSES / CAT MIAOWS
PRESENTER: Which sound is the odd one out?
CHILDREN: The train! / The cat and the dog are both animals!
PRESENTER: Listen carefully to these three sounds. Can you say which is the odd one out?
FX: SEAGULLS / MILK BOTTLES / SEASIDE WAVES
PRESENTER: Which sound is the odd one out?
CHILDREN: The bottles! / Because the others are seaside sounds!
PRESENTER: Listen carefully again. Which of these three sounds is the odd one out?
FX: CAR / TRAIN / SOMEONE HAMMERING
PRESENTER: Which sound is the odd one out?CHILDREN: The hammering! / Because you can take a ride in a car and a train!
PRESENTER: Listen carefully again. Which of these three sounds is the odd one out?
FX: WHISTLE 1 / DRUM ROLL / WHISTLE 2
PRESENTER: Which sound is the odd one out?
CHILDREN: The drum! / The other two are both whistles!
PRESENTER: We’ll have one more go. Listen carefully. Which of these three sounds is the odd one out?
FX: WIND / THUNDER / BABY LAUGHING

CHILDREN: The baby laughing! / Because the others are weather sounds!

PRESENTER: He’s easy to hear! Listen now as Charlie gets quieter…and quieter...
FX: SOUND OF DOG FADES
PRESENTER: Now we’re going to listen very carefully for Charlie, because he won’t be easy to hear...
FX: COUNTRYSIDE
PRESENTER: We’re in the countryside. Can you hear Charlie? Put your hand up when you can hear Charlie...
FX: COUNTRYSIDE CONTINUES. THEN DOG FAINTLY. THEN GETTING LOUDER
PRESENTER: It’s Charlie! Let’s try that again.
FX: TOWN
PRESENTER: Now we’re in the town. Can you hear Charlie? Put your hand up when you can hear Charlie...
FX: TOWNSCAPE CONTINUES. THEN DOG FAINTLY. THEN GETTING LOUDER
PRESENTER: It’s Charlie!
FX: PEOPLE. CHAT. CUTLERY ETC.
PRESENTER: Now we’re outside at a big picnic party. Can you hear Charlie? Put up your hand when you can hear Charlie...
FX: CONTINUE. THEN DOG. THEN GETTING LOUDER.
PRESENTER: It’s Charlie!
FX: FARM ANIMALS
PRESENTER: Now we’re on a farm and the farmer is ploughing the fields. This time listen carefully for one baby lamb. Can you hear it yet? Put up your hand when you can hear the baby lamb...
FX: FX CONTINUE. THEN BABY LAMB, QUIET AT FIRST THEN LOUDER
PRESENTER: Can you hear it now – one baby lamb!

PRESENTER: This time we’re going to do some counting. Listen carefully. How many different birds can you hear?
FX: CROW, SPARROW, SEAGULL
PRESENTER: How many different birds did you hear? Listen again.
FX: REPEAT WITH CHILDREN COUNTING
PRESENTER: A crow...a sparrow...and a seagull. There were three different birds. This time – how many different animals can you hear?
FX: DOG, HORSE, CAT, SEAGULL
PRESENTER: How many animals did you hear? Listen again...
FX: REPEAT WITH CHILDREN COUNTING
PRESENTER: A dog...a horse...a cat...a seagull. There were four animals! Let’s do that again. This time, how many different ways of travelling can you hear?
FX: CAR, WALKING, TRAIN, BICYCLE, PLANE.
PRESENTER: How many different ways of travelling did you hear? Listen again...
FX: REPEATS WITH CHILDREN COUNTING
PRESENTER: A car...footsteps walking...a train...a bicycle...a plane... There were five different ways of travelling. This time we’re going on a quick journey. But how many different places are we going to? Try and count them.
FX: SEASIDE / SUPERMARKET / ANIMALS IN ZOO / SCHOOL CLASSROOM / RAINFOREST
PRESENTER: How many places did you hear? Listen again...
FX: REPEAT WITH CHILDREN COUNTING
PRESENTER: A beach...a supermarket...a zoo...a classroom...a forest. There were five different places on our journey. So many different sounds around!
