Science KS1 / KS2: The changing seasons
A look at what happens to different landscapes through the four seasons: Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring.
This clip is from the BBC series Wonders of Nature.
The children could make a set of drawings and paintings to show the changing of the seasons.
They could freeze-frame images they see in the clip, to use as sources of inspiration.
Make four seasonal displays in different parts of the classroom, using the children’s pictures.
Encourage pupils to find objects to group in front of their paintings, such as fruits and seeds (autumn), gloves (winter), eggs (spring) and sun glasses (summer).
The children could learn the order of the months of the year and relate calendar months to the appropriate season.
This short film is relevant for teaching science at KS1 and KS2 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland or First and Second Level in Scotland.
