PSHE KS2 / KS3: Feeling homesick
Lara is feeling homesick and isn't her usual self. She phones her mum and explains she's worried her friends will think her silly if she tells them.
On receiving a sentimental package from her mum Lara has an emotional outburst and snaps at Monica, running away to hide her tears.
She reluctantly decides to make an appointment with the school counsellor, but is too embarrassed to tell her friends.
Meanwhile, they guess she is homesick and try to engineer a plan to make her see the counsellor.
Eventually Tony decides just to listen to what she has to say. Lara feels better after their heart to heart and the two head off to the cinema to join the others.
They all cry at the movie together, realising that it’s healthy to share your feelings with your friends.
Quiz questions throughout the clip ask pupils who they would talk to if they were feeling sad, how they would react if they knew a friend was seeing a counsellor, and if they think talking would help them feel better.
Lara also suggests calling a helpline if no counsellor is available.
