Physics KS3/GCSE: A demonstration of friction

Science presenter Jon Chase explains friction.

He describes how friction opposes or prevents motion, and demonstrates the force in action with an experiment involving two interleaved books.

Teacher Notes

Students could try to recreate this fun 'friction book' activity in class, possibly as a strength test between groups of students. They could also give additional examples of uses in friction in everyday life.

Curriculum Notes

This short film will be relevant for teaching physics and science in general at KS3 and KS4 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and National 4/5 in Scotland.
