Physical Education KS2: The 'pause groove' in street dance

Kenrick 'H20' Sandy from Alesha's Street Dance Stars teaches a 'pause groove' as used in street dance.

He begins by demonstrating the move, concentrating on the lower body and feet.

He then teaches the arms separately and finally brings both movements together.

The music is added and he performs the pause groove with teaching points.

This clip is from the series Street Dance Masterclass.

Teacher Notes

The movement can be broken down and incorporated into any dance piece to demonstrate street grooves.

Timing is tricky and the arm moves unexpected, but pupils with some dance background should master it and be able to choreograph around it.

Curriculum Notes

This clip will be relevant for teaching Physical Education or Dance at Key Stage 2 or Second Year in Scotland.
