Sharing and remixing music

Dev from BBC Radio 1 meets DJ Monki to get advice on how to remix a track.

BBC Radio 1's Dev talks about the tweaks you can do once a track is recorded and arranged. He meets up with DJ Monki who explains how creating a remix is like making a new piece of music from scratch. She takes Dev through the different elements of remixing a song - obtaining stems of the original track, working out the BPM, figuring out which parts to use and creating your own sound.

This clip could be used to explain the basic principles of mastering and releasing your music online and to introduce the idea of creating a remix of an already authored piece of music. It could also be used to demonstrate the evolution of a piece of music, from one sound to a completely different one.
