Welsh golfer Phillip Price is excited to compete on both sides of Atlantic

Welshman Phillip Price has secured full exemption to play in the US next year on the PGA Tour Championship.

Price had already made clear his intention to also compete on the European Senior Tour, meaning he can now pick and choose his events in 2017.

Price will be in the field when the Senior Open returns to Wales at Royal Porthcawl on 27 July.

The 50-year old former Ryder Cup star earned his US Tour card by winning a Q-School event at Walt Disney Resort.

"To start well was a real bonus, but I probably started so well that it was quite tricky because I had 14 more holes, so it was difficult not to be really defensive," Price said.

"I wanted to try to win the Q-School because it would have been very easy to try and go out and get the fifth card, which I think would have made me very negative.

"I wanted to make birdies rather than to try not to make mistakes because I think I could have gotten myself in trouble with that mindset."
