Wales' Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning boxer Sean McGoldrick is to turn professional.

McGoldrick, 24, lost in the 56kg final to Manju Wanniarachchi at the 2010 Games, but the Sri Lankan's failed drugs test saw the Welshman upgraded to gold.

The Newport fighter, who also claimed bronze at the 2014 Games, has signed professional terms with MGM.

"I'm very excited to be joining MGM," McGoldrick said.

"I believe with their guidance I'll be going all the way.

"I'm very proud of my amateur achievements and to have represented my country at the highest level."
