Billy Joe Saunders and Liam Williams bill postponed after boxers injured on same day
A bill involving WBO world middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders and British super welterweight champion Liam Williams has been postponed after both boxers were injured on the same day.
Williams was due to headline the card in Cardiff on 22 October and defend his title against Ahmet Patterson but was injured in sparring on Thursday.
Saunders was due to face Artur Akavov but picked up a muscle injury.
The event has now been rescheduled to take place on Saturday, 26 November.
The 27-year-old Saunders was meant to defend his title against Estonian fighter Akavov but he and Williams, 24, will be given the chance to retain their belts a month after the fight was meant to take place.
Chris Eubank Jr was also scheduled to fight Tommy Langford on the same bill but pulled out of the fight and vacated his British middleweight title with a "severe" elbow injury.
"We have obviously not had a lot of luck with this event, first of all being let down by Eubank Jr," promoter Frank Warren said.
"Now the two main fights on a card falling out on the same day. We have no choice but to postpone the card to a month later so everyone is given time to recover."
