103Shazam it maybe ?
French open is so boring with Nadal winning all the time. At least Wimbledon gives us at least 4 possible winners.
Agree entirely with 118. Very few in deprived inner city schools are members to private tennis clubsThey should introduce a rule which requires all players to play on an out court during the first 3 rounds, even the big 3. They should play centre court, court 1 and say 12
@118Top events cost a lot to go to, not just tennis. If anything wimbledon is more accessible due cheaper tickets earlier in the tournament and ground passes.Tennis's problem is at club level; I have played at three and the members are predominantly white, middle class/aged and obsessed with conforming to traditions rather than progressively attracting younger and more diverse members.
I don't think people can complain too much about the scheduling today; the people who go to centre court want to see Murray and Federer/Dimitrov is the pick of 4th round for me (given how GD has been playing).I do think that Fed and Murray should have done one match each on court one last week though... Nadal and Djokovic have both been out there a couple of times now.
Despite my earlier comments about Balding having been removed for some form of political correctness, I still feel that the BBC have dropped a real clanger here. You have only to watch her exchanges with former greats such as Martina, John Mac, and a host of others, to see how they regard her naive questions. What on earth did John Inverdale do to deserve to be dropped from such a pivotal role ?
For what he has done for the game, federer has earned his advantages.
117.I'm aware the grass roots activities and its great. Sadly though, this is a cultural / attitudinal issue which is unlikely to be solved by free equipment and free taster lessons. Andy Murray is a great role model for the kids, grounded and a real fighter with a passion to win. More guys like him coming through would be great
110. 4VG"The non-middle class kids just aren't welcome, unfortunately"You must be oblivious to the range of free tennis courses and even free racquets.
The men's 4th seed is continuously prioritised over men and women ranked above. The ATP/LTA are far too enthralled to a certain Swiss. It's a big advantage to play all on the same surface with no threat of weather delays. Perhaps if exciting young guys like Thiem and Zverev were given the same level of fawning PR they wouldn't need to use the excuse of "popularity" to justify their scheduling..
113. Rob Brice "These jokers should count themselves lucky that Tiger Tim Henman retired - he would wipe the floor with the lot of them."I think you'll find that they have more than enough winnings to have someone wipe the floor for them so TH would be on his own.
Yeah....Tim won free kebabs for a year at the Rotherham Masters in 1999...classy.
These jokers should count themselves lucky that Tiger Tim Henman retired - he would wipe the floor with the lot of them.
@90. Posted by God"fake number one'And in what way can Andy's ranking be fake? Was he awarded the points total (which was almost double the number two) by buying a family size Corn Flakes down at the supermarket? And at the the same time, Joker got his points deducted for a double fault? You Sir, are a chube.I take that back, as that's an insult to chubes.Ignorant Idiot will do.
Just viewed the show courts scheduling and once again, certain players men/women are being favoured by the AELTC, it could be argued that the matches to played on Court 2 deserve Centre court billing as opposed to the ones listed. Sporting integrity at SW19 must be now in question, playing on the same court throughout the tournament, possibly to a final, has to be an unfair advantage!
