David Ferrer recorded a 6-2 6-3 victory over Fabio Fognini to secure his first Rio Open title on Sunday.
World number 28 Fognini reached the final after ending Rafael Nadal's 52-match winning streak in semi-finals on clay on Saturday.
Spaniard Ferrer took just an hour and 23 minutes to wrap up the win.
The 32-year-old twice broke his Italian opponent's serve in the opening set, and secured a decisive break in the fourth game of the second.
"It was my best match of the tournament and I'm very happy having won two tournaments this season," the world number nine said.
