Federer storms into second round

Roger Federer secured his place in the second round of the French Open with a 6-2 6-2 6-3 victory over Spanish Grand Slam debutant Pablo Carreno-Busta.

The 21-year-old qualifier went into the match on the back of seven titles this year but found the 17-time Grand Slam winner a far tougher test.

Federer, the 2009 champion, remains unbeaten in first-round matches at major tournaments since 2003.

The 31-year-old Swiss meets India's world number 188 Somdev Devvarman next.
