Jamie Murray has failed to reach his third grand slam mixed-doubles final as he and partner Nadia Petrova were beaten in the French Open semi-finals.

The Brit and his Russian partner were beaten 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) by top seeds Katarina Srebotnik and Nenad Zimonjic.

The pair were competitive throughout but ultimately fell short.

Meanwhile, Brit Oli Golding is into the quarter-finals of the boys' singles after a 6-3 3-6 6-2 victory over highly-rated American Marcos Giron.

The 17-year-old, who as the fourth seed is the highest-ranked player left in the tournament, will play another American, Bjorn Fratengelo, in the last eight.

Golding reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon last year.

Murray's finest moment so far came at Wimbledon in 2007 when he and Jelena Jankovic won the mixed doubles title.

The Scot almost repeated the feat at the 2008 US Open with partner Liezel Huber, but they were beaten by Cara Black and Leander Paes.
