World number three Laura Massaro became the first English woman to win the KL Open with victory over compatriot Alison Waters in the final in Malaysia.

Lancashire-based Massaro, 29, beat fifth-ranked Waters 11-9 11-7 11-6 in Kuala Lumpar, having seen off world champion Nicol David on Saturday.

The result gives Massaro her 11th WSA World Tour title, and the second World Series title of her career.

Both women will now focus on the British Open in Hull in May.

"I won!! KL Open champion," Massaro said on twitter. "My 2nd ever World Series title, so excited! Massive thanks to everyone who helped me achieve my win this week! You know who you are! Couldn't do it without you!"

Waters, 29, had beaten Massaro in the British Nationals final in Manchester last month. The Londoner is making her way back up the rankings after 12 months out of the game with an Achilles injury in 2011.
