Judd Trump reached the second round of the Welsh Open thanks to a 4-1 win over James Cahill.
The world champion eased to victory after opening with a break of 132 against fellow Englishman Cahill.
Wales' Mark Williams progressed thanks to a 4-1 win over Oliver Lines, while Mark Selby beat David Grace 4-2.
Welshman Matthew Stevens beat David Gilbert 4-2 and compatriot Daniel Wells is through after defeating Barry Pinches 4-2.
But there were first-round exits for home players Lee Walker, Duane Jones, Ryan Day, Michael White and Kishan Hirani.
Walker lost 4-2 to John J Astley, while Jones was beaten 4-1 by Anthony McGill.
Hirani lost 4-0 to Lyu Haotian, White went down 4-3 to Anthony Hamilton and Day suffered a surprise 4-1 defeat by Simon Lichtenberg.
World number three Williams had started slowly against Lines and found himself a frame behind before winning the next four to reach the next round at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.
Reigning Welsh Open champion Neil Robertson plays his first-round match against Wales' Jamie Clarke on Tuesday evening after Ronnie O'Sullivan faces Zhang Jiankang earlier in the day.
