World Open: Mark Williams fights back to reach final

Mark Williams ponders a shot
Mark Williams won his third world title in May, 15 years after his previous triumph

World snooker champion Mark Williams battled back from 5-2 down to beat Thailand's Noppon Saengkham 6-5 and reach the World Open final in China.

The 43-year-old won four successive frames in Yushan.

Williams will face David Gilbert in the final after he beat fellow Englishman Barry Hawkins 4-2 in their semi-final.

World number seven Hawkins said the result prompted social media trolling with the player being told to "get cancer" and "die" on Twitter.

Welshman Williams beat England's Jack Lisowski 5-3 to reach the semi-finals, while world number one Mark Selby was one of Saengkham's earlier victims.
