Scotland striker Kris Boyd has terminated his contract with Eskisehirspor, only five months after joining the Turkish club.

Boyd has triggered a clause in his contract, allowing him to leave if there was a delay in receiving wages.

Having played just 76 minutes this season, the 28-year-old is returning to the UK and will pursue compensation for his three-year contract.

Boyd is the Scottish Premier League's all-time leading goalscorer.

During his spells with Kilmarnock and Rangers he netted 164 goals, before leaving Ibrox for an unhappy spell at Middlesbrough in 2010.

The player's agent, Mark Donaghy, told BBC Scotland that a club in Britain was Boyd's preferred option.
