Short memories, sour grapes for a successful team largely out of the academy past 10+ years. What about Quins in 2009 "bloodgate" and then again in 2017/18 overran financial cap. Wasps in 2017 falsified info on earnings. How many others are flirty the regs? Only one PRL club was in profit in 2018/19 - the Chiefs showing the state of PRL clubs and the order of magnitude of their borrowing.
Few will ever give Sarries credit despite fact that most players have either come through academy or signed young. I remember the days when we were lucky to avoid relegation and I did not like Leicester for the simple reason they had better players and kept beating us. I quite like Leicester now.
There are other clubs who havent cheated and lied their way to silverware and duped people into allowing them to play in the erc by virtue of their league position having cheated in that league. BBC should not be giving any coverage to this group of cheats.
@182 - surely relegation to National League 3 or even lower is a suitable punishment for being £580k over the salary cap for 3 years running after all it is more than half a million quid and their not my team and they keep beating my team so they must be despicable cheats.
@182 You should suggest to PRL they need to change their regulations! Otherwise suck it upOut of interest why are you bothered with English rugby? Just remember they have broken no ERCC regulations on salary. With Leinster (Irish government) having players like BOD etc being able to claim back 40% of the tax on their salaries and pension payments, is that cheating at all?
I don’t have access to the rules, but I bet they are complicated. Because trying to aim off for every wheeze leads to 100 pages of waffle. I haven’t seen the evidence against Sarries. I haven’t seen the transcript of the ruling. But I would still put a few bob on the proposition that pretty much every club is trying to work out how to game the system. The money corrupts. Always. Suck it up.
Every Saracens win is a negative for rugby, the only real justice would be relegation
The decline at Tigers has been 5 years in the making. The fans knew it was happening but the board were clueless and in denial. They were fortunate last season to survive and as a Tigers fan it pains me to say this, but I don’t think we’ll be so lucky this year and it’s no more than this once great club deserve based on the events in recent years. Hi
Cheats never prosper.
@176 Unlike he highly successful Scottish and Welsh teams/regions in Europe..... Oh maybe not. Well perhaps unlike the highly successful RWC records the Celtic teams have ....... Oh sorry again!
@174 Saintrod,It is 10 years since Saracens last finished within 35 points of relegation, so I doubt they will go down, although they might sacrifice their european cup campaign to make sure. With Tigers and Franchise RFC struggling it is only a matter of time before the media start talking about ring fencing the premiership.
I feel sorry for all you $arrie$ fans who blindly follow this group of cheats. Have you no standards that you allow yourselves to be associated with them ?Any future wins in tournaments are quite meaningless, dull, dreary and frankly irrelevant. Why are the bbc even giving any time or webspace to them ?
@175 - most English clubs look clueless to be honest and it translates to the International arena in games for example, where England just bottled it against the Springboks. Until England learn to man-up, front-up, stand tall, beat their chests, flex their muscles, and do the hokey pokey 'cos that's what its all about, they'll never win a major tournament again.
@174 Agreed, Leicester look clueless! Losing so many lineout, turning the bAll over so much and, following their England form, Young and Ford kick king so badly to that back three was always going to put them on the backfoot.
Judging by Leicester’s performance today there is no chance of Sarries going down. Tigers were absolutely dire. Even with all their internationals and us losing three just before kick off this was embarrassing.
What a good weekend of rugby with Bath, Wasps, Leicester and Sale all losing. Now all that needs to happen is for Glos to smash little Quins and the laughing stock of Reading to beat the plastic franchise club.
Thank god for Leicester or Sarries might go down. Seriously though, what does Murphy need to do to get sacked?
@169 Ken,Thanks for proving to the rest of us that you are not a rugby fan.
