France's women proved too strong for their battling Welsh counterparts as the hosts posted a bonus-point win in Brive to end the Six Nations.

Wales' defeat followed those of the country's under-20 men and senior men in the past 24 hours.

Number eight Shona Powell-Hughes' try gave Wales a brief lead early on.

But after Jessy Tremouliere kicked France into the lead, five tries followed, while prop Amy Evans twice touched down for the visitors.

Lock Audrey Forlani, centre Caroline Ladagnous, wing Caroline Boujard and replacement back Patricia Carricaburu crossed for France before Tremouliere completed a 19-point haul with a try, four conversions and two penalties.

France finished third behind Grand Slam champions England and second-placed Ireland, while Wales were fifth.
