Sam Cross: Olympian in Wales sevens squad for World Rugby Series opener

Olympic silver medallist Sam Cross has been included in Wales' Sevens squad for the first leg of the World Rugby Series in Dubai.

Cross was part of Great Britain's men's team which won silver at Rio 2016 in the inaugural Olympic rugby sevens.

The 24-year-old is co-captain along with fellow Team GB travelling reserve Luke Treharne.

Stef Andrews, Matthew Owen, Jared Rosser and Tom Williams are the new faces in the squad.

Wales have been drawn in Pool A with Olympic champions Fiji, Argentina and Canada with the tournament starting on Friday, 2 December.

"There is huge potential in the group, which is very exciting," head coach Gareth Williams said.
