Clark Laidlaw: London Irish assistant coach to become New Zealand sevens head coach
London Irish assistant coach Clark Laidlaw will leave next June to become New Zealand sevens head coach.
The Scot will succeed Sir Gordon Tietjens at the All Blacks sevens, who stood down after the Rio Olympics following 22 years in charge.
Laidlaw joined The Exiles in 2015 alongside former head coach Tom Coventry and assistant Grant Doorey.
"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm excited at the challenge that lies ahead," he said.
Formerly a skills coach and video analyst within the All Blacks sevens set-up, Laidlaw was assistant coach of Super Rugby side Hurricanes in New Zealand before joining Irish.
"Clark is a very talented coach and this is a great move for him and his family," London Irish director of rugby Nick Kennedy said.
"We will wish him well in the next chapter of his coaching career."
