Scarlets hopeful on new deal for Wales winger Liam Williams
Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac is hopeful of keeping Wales winger Liam Williams at the region next season and beyond.
The 25-year old is out of contract at the end of the season and is attracting interest from French and English clubs.
"Negotiations are ongoing. We are talking to him, coach to player, and we are talking to the union about keeping him in Wales. That's what everyone's trying to achieve," Pivac said.
"I think we are making some progress, but nothing is assured."
Pivac feels Williams' profile at the region means he would be tough to replace.
"It's very important players like Liam stay in Wales," said the Scarlets head coach.
"For any region, club or country, you don't want to lose the guy who comes through as a young player, who plays the way Liam does when he pulls on the jersey, because he's a huge asset to the club.
"He's a good role model to others, he never says never and he doesn't step back from any challenge. You can see that every week from the way he plays."
