Kristian Dacey has signed a new long-term contract with Cardiff Blues.

Dacey is the third Wales international in recent weeks to extend his deal at Cardiff Arms Park, following Tom James and Gethin Jenkins.

The 27-year old has been with the region since 2010.

"It was an easy decision to make to stay," Dacey said. "There is always room to improve. I am working hard to achieve those goals and feel this is the best place for me to do it."

Dacey says the decision to remain in Wales will have professional and personal perks.

"I have been back and forth with Wales and that is an ongoing ambition and I can fulfil that by playing well here," he said on his bid to add to his three caps.

"I have a young family, my wife and boy are settled here and we didn't want to go anywhere else."

Head coach Danny Wilson added: "We are naturally delighted that Kris has committed himself to Cardiff Blues with a new contract.

"Hooker is a position where we have plenty of strength in depth and Kris is a key figure for us in that and as we build.

"He has been in good form this season and will continue to develop, hopefully leading to many more top class performance for us and subsequently further international recognition."
