Phil Dollman: Exeter Chiefs full-back ruled out with broken hand

Exeter full-back Phil Dollman could be out for around two months after breaking a bone in his hand in the Chiefs' Premiership defeat to Saracens.

The 31-year-old Welshman was forced to leave the field after just 15 minutes.

"The initial prognosis is that he's going to be out for a little while - he may well require an operation," head coach Rob Baxter told BBC Sport.

"If he does he'll have that very shortly, and then you're talking about a six to eight week recovery period."

Dollman has been one of Exeter's most consistent players, starting 21 of the club's 22 league games last season and playing in both play-off matches.

"I'm disappointed for Phil, he's playing well again, as he did last season, and he's been a key member of the backline," added Baxter.

"But it's a great opportunity for Lachie Turner to potentially get some time at full-back, a great opportunity potentially for Max Bodilly - we have got options there and these guys are in the squad for a reason."
