Angloal, sorry my last post was a bit abrupt. That sort of was my point, Aus have a good defence but it can go a bit missing, it did against Sco who took advantage, also against Arg who didn't. They will need to defend like they did against Wal for 80mins in the final as NZ won't give up 35 points and if Aus defence goes to sleep, they could concede a bucket load.
Some people really need to get over England winning in 2003 - they were ranked no 1 in the World at the time so had proved themselves, and they won the tournament as they deserved to...... The 1st & 2nd ranked teams at the beginning of this RWC are in the final...... bring it on !
the RFU are brilliant! employ S lancaster, a coach with little experience, he brings in in a rugby league player with 10 months experience, SL builds his world cup team around sam burgess, we get knocked out of the group stages of our home world cup and the RFU employ the very panel that sanctioned SL in the first place to do the reviewthen sam burgess leaves and goes back to RLwell done rfu
Totally agree Trimp, still cannot fathom why he was fast tracked with such unseemly haste. Farrell's influence? Whoever agreed to this farce should be sacked but they won't of course, business as usual...
@211 from my post @53, Aus could come out firing and they have personnel to score lots of points themselves and a good defence. What is your point?
Good to see Burgess going back to League. He might start to enjoy playing again. Those who convinced him he would be good at union need to apologise.Long line of RL "centres" have been absolutely useless at RU. Top of the list: daddy Farrell, B-J Mather, Henry Paul, Hape, Tompkins, now Burgess. The definition of stupidity is repeating the same thing and expecting a different outcome.
The all blacks record of wins over the last few decades has been formidable. So much so that if a side beats them, they crow about it for years and this includes their "experimental sides". Such is the All Black legacy, awesome.
53 agoodbigun Aussie defence was good against Wales, but loads of mistakes against Scotland
209. SBWYES it was a fluke. If you beat a team 1 in 10 times that 1 time is a fluke same as in 2003.---England beat NZ twice in a row, at home in 2002 and away in 2003 and then went on to win the WC.That was no fluke they were ranked number one and were better than NZ . Remember Aus hammered NZ in the SF.
Blowthewhistle - Fair enough on your point of disputing the number of 13 players Nz I misread the post. Eng beat NZ in 2013 however YES it was a fluke. If you beat a team 1 in 10 times that 1 time is a fluke same as in 2003. Isn't is the same CORE of players for England in 2013 as the Worldcup squad? Where are they now? proving my point of England's fluke results against NZ, they never back it up!
Well done to the idiots at the RFU we are lucky enough to get the best rugby league player in the world to come and play for us and because of the constant criticism by media and narrow minded toffs who use to play the game when it was at a snails pace he is considering going back to Sydney. The AB team use SBW as an impact player and Burgess is every bit as good as. Bravo RFU you should be proud
205. ackerbeeSuppose the real question is why have NZ underperformed in WCs given their dominance over the decades.Especially when looking at the history since SA were back in the fold (prior world cup wins have to be viewed as suspect by their absence)
159. by PaapaaRobots?england scored loads of tries and won by huge margins on many occasions, i suggest you look back on some footagesee a small montage of brilliance and skill that i have only seen replicated by the AB"England 2001-2003: The Golden Era" then have have rusk and some milk and go to bed203. Posted by BlueIsTheColourlook to your own teams dignity and learn!
@204 shame about BOD ..However Clives Lions with many rwc Eng players.. were well beaten regardless ( the Moari AB team won a 1 off game against them also which was a first)I think the all time stats for B/I lions to NZ are 1 series from 13 attempts.Sure it has nothing to do with rwc but reiterates the history of dominance enjoyed by NZ over the UK / Ire...(even as a united team)
202 The 2005 Lions tour was a disaster that started with the spear tackle on Brian O'Driscoll.Tana Umaga and Mealamu should both have been red carded (and banned)Wouldn't change the series win for NZ but likely the Lions would win that first test against 13 men for 70+mins
Australia shouldn't be in the final, they lost to Scotland until the referee decided otherwise. This has overshadowed the tournament in my view.
@200 fair pointWould also add..no Brit/Ire team has ever beaten the ABs in any rwc tournament to date.I remember Clives 03 Eng team winning a 1 off pre rwc warm up game in NZ...ABs expected a tight game and were narrowly beaten by a tough and determined Eng team.I also remember Clives tough and determined Lions team in 05....
Should be a great game on Saturday with some proper rugby being played - TRIES! The two best teams are in it so we should be thankful for that, given the shoddy refereeing. Tired of hearing from the NH pretenders and their supporters, especially those that have never won a World Cup. Dream on. Get over yourselves. Stop counting wins that have no meaning on the World Stage.
