Has anyone else pointed out that 'reactionary' doesn't mean what Jerry is using it to mean? I'm not trying to be a pedant, but unless Jerry means that Cockerill was harking back to the old days when coaches would berate officials, it just doesn't make sense. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/reactionary
Dorian to Jim, "lets take Floody out every time he has the ball, worth a yellow!" Jim to Dorian "yep, Ford is a boy, he plays well back in the pocket".Cockers to O'Connor "wind Dylan up 'cos he's well mardy" Result, Flood out, Hartley out. Both teams handicapped, Tigers quality shows through.Simple game plans, Saints only had a sniff due to being up fast on the gainline and Ford's nervousness.
Rob, no need to follow another sport, Rugby is a very well disciplined sport, it does have problems but they are being addressed and such indiscipline is come down on heavily. An issue that is not raised is the temrementality of referees, which is happening far too often. We focus this on the players to much who considering the collision nature of the game do very well.
neither a saints or tigers fan but why do they allow wayne barnes to ref these big games . got to be 1 of the worst refs around shocking start which was made by the board
Mr Guscott you are a disgrace to rugby. You ignore Cockerills dispicable rant at the 4th official and you say that the (proven) biting, gouging & swearing from Hartley isn't sufficient to stop his international career. Oh Please..! Both should have 6 month bans to send a clear message that this isn't Wendyball. Hartley should never be allowed to don the red rose again...Cockerill...duct tape..!
@39. clownfeaturesI quite agree. From a debate perspective, if you want to get the forum buzzing you need to be a little controversial at times. "jiffy" ticks that box, and love him or hate him he gets fans debating. So, C'mon Jez off the fence, and tell it as it is,otherwise fans will get a little disinterested. Try something like, "WG has picked too many Welsh" Geeze, no only kidding.!
@95You have a point, but splitting hairs about how many people abused the ref was asking for negative comments. It's bad enough sections of a crowd chanting 'cheat, cheat.....' without the players doing it. Maybe I need to find a new sport to follow.
94, please be kind enough to re-read my comments, do I mention cockeril at all? I did not see that incident (cup of tea!) ergo I did not comment on it at all, from what others have said, it sounds bad,So having done that you may want to re-focus your abusive comments to a place far better suited. DK, Soccer antics would be to surround the referee and shout in his face. Hartley, while he showed no respect at all for the official was one person who made comments while backing away from him.He was correctly sent off because this needs stopping before it gets this far but I did find Barnes' actions inflamatory.
@Rosbifs Matthew Tait not big enough?Tait is 6ft and 14st 2lbsAlex Goode is 5'11 and 13st 5lbsMike Brown is 6ft and 14stFoden is the only one going on tour who is bigger.
#86I totally agree - Jerry has ducked the issues being discussed. Thank goodness Brian Moore had the courage to say what needed to be said. Hartley is a liability, and Cockerill behaved very badly. We really do not want soccer antics creeping into our beloved game. It's mutual respect between opposing teams, and players and officials that make it special. Jerry should uphold those standards.
