Everyone here should take a moment to watch the Freddie Burns try from today, Leicester looked very very average in attack, not being able to score and two Burns kicks got us two tries. It might be worth Lancaster having a watch too!
27. jamesmathewYou r quite right, eg in the North of England there is a boarding school called Sedbergh which traditionally was a Public School it has now turned it to a rugby academy with a massive focus of attracting players on scholarships who otherwise would not benefit from this kind of education. This is a great opportunity for players but has destroyed fair competition at Daily Mail level
Oh dear Jerry; no job at the Met office for you doing the Franklin Gardens forecasts! While you are right about Pisi, even packets of Pisi's, this result rather makes the point that playing as a disiplined team is worth more in this league than having talented, even extremely talented individuals.
halfpenny is ok but so overrated, he can kick long penalties pretty damn well but he makes up for that with frequent terrible shorter ones, he always gets beaten to the high ball which to be fair is not his fault because hes about 5 foot 9. kearney, foden, brown even geordan murphy ahead of him for the lions
re. amesmathewLeigh Halfpenny is good, as are quite a few of the Welsh youngsters, but I am absolutely certain half of them will not be present at the next world cup. Why? There is a culture in Welsh rugby at the moment to over-muscle. LH is a case in point. Roberts, Halfpenny, North, your new prop will all be suffereing repeated cruciate and elbow ligament problems by then. Shame, but true.
As for the predictions ...Worcester by a score (thinking I might get at least one right :))Wasps by less than 7Chiefs by less than 7Saints by less than 7Tigers by 10Quins by 12And for fullness.....Ospreys by 10Treviso by 3Leinster by 14Munster by a few and Scarlets by a lucky one :)And lastly ... 10 for Wales .... Non good enough right now in the regions, so would go with Hook
#58 .... Nope, they will target LW naturally, but that fixture is now some time away and of course at Kassam.Naturally (as with welsh) a crucial time period to get points is around the AI and 6N when others don't have their internationals ....The Welsh regions? Not good enough at the moment, but the sum of parts still show promise for Wales ( but Wales still need to really deliver the proof)
back to the predictions guscott got tonight rightcan anyone see where sale are going to get that win?
hey jamesmathew....all the Welsh regional sides are awful and half the best players are English :) - see anyone can just bait people you bring nothing to this thread except for an overattachment and blind loyalty to all the Welsh players (which is nice, genuinely nice I like to see a patriot but maybe 1 or 2 comments is enough?)
anyway, I think George Ford needs to be in the mix, much more exiting than burns and flood and miles ahead of farrel but if cockerill wont start him and lancaster wont take the shackles off the next Dan Carter will sit in the shadowssad
I dont understand why half of this Premiership thread has been james matthews and his welsh attitudesperhaps he is worried about the exodus of the best welsh players going to france. now is that money over pride or are they looking for residency so they can play for les blues in a couple of years, either way they aint loyal to wales
Burns has showed this year that his defence is not lacking.I struggle to see Halfpenny as better than Morgan under the high ball but okay...
My predictions are Worcester,Bath,Tigers,Sarries,Quins,Wasps3 home wins, 3 away wins.
On another note, my predictions differ as I would back Leicester, Saracens and Exeter to win this weekend.
I always thought Burns' defense was lacking, the same as Cipriani (who I believe is extremely over-rated). But I can see why Lancaster has gone for Farrell over Burns if he want's to play a strong defensive game particularly against the attacking likes of AB. I do agree however that it's ridiculous he isn't even in the squad, because he no won't gain the necessary experience to improve.
