Exeter Chiefs flanker Tom Johnson says he is excited at the prospect of making his 100th appearance for the club.

The 29-year-old, who arrived from Coventry in 2007 will achieve the feat when he starts Saturday's Premiership match with Newcastle.

"It's a good milestone for me. If you look at where I came from, it is a little bit surprising. I take each week as it comes," he told BBC Radio Devon.

"You always hope whichever club your in your going to stay the distance."

Johnson, who played for England Saxons in the Churchill Cup, says the Chiefs fans have been key to his and the club's success, including last week's historic win at Leicester.

"When we went up to Leicester there were a couple of hundred supporters and they were absolutely immense," he said.

"We played Scarlets a couple of weeks ago and we had 4,500 here so we would really like a full stadium because it really makes a difference to us and the support is normally brilliant."
