Newcastle Falcons fly-half Jeremy Manning is expected to miss the first four matches of the 2011-12 Premiership season after undergoing hip surgery.
The 25-year-old picked up the initial injury against Harlequins in March, but delayed the operation until the end of the campaign.
"The surgeon was chuffed and expects me to make a full recovery," Manning told the club website.
"I'm happy with it and I'm half walking about with the aid of crutches."
Manning, who joined the club from Munster in June 2010, scored 51 points in 23 games during his debut season for the Falcons.
