Newcastle Falcons have completed the signing of Bedford Blues scrum-half Will Chudley on an undisclosed deal for next season.
The 23-year-old helped the Blues reach the Championship play-offs and was in the side that lost the British & Irish Cup final to Bristol.
"I've been looking for a young nine, he's quick, he's got a great service," coach Alan Tait told BBC Newcastle.
"He's a young man who wants a real go at Premiership rugby."
Tait added: "When Bedford played Worcester [in the play-off semi-final], I thought he was man-of-the-match and that made my mind up."
Falcons now have three half-backs who can operate from scrum-half for next season, with Chris Pilgrim and incoming Gloucester pivot Jordi Pasqualin offering depth after the departure of Micky Young to Leicester Tigers.
"I've got Chris who's desperate to have a shot, I've got Jordi, and I've got Will," Tait said.
"I'm going to have a bit of enjoyment during the summer watching them compete against each other, because the little men seem to have the biggest battles."
