Injured Leicester Tigers and Ireland full-back Geordan Murphy hopes to force his way into World Cup contention.

Murphy broke his foot playing for Tigers in January and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

But the 32-year-old hopes to prove his fitness in time for the start of the World Cup in New Zealand in September.

"The Irish squad meet up on 27 June and my goal is to be fit for that and to able to go and train with the guys," he told BBC Radio Leicester.

"It'll be very difficult but that's my goal."
