Wigan v St Helens: Willie Isa & James Bentley banned after derby

Wigan's Willie Isa has been suspended for four games after two incidents in Friday's derby loss to St Helens, with Saints' James Bentley receiving a one-game ban.

Isa was banned for three games on a Grade C striking penalty notice and one game for a strike with a forearm, for Grade A other contrary behaviour.

Bentley received his ban for kicking out at an opponent at the ruck.

A one-game ban for Wigan's John Bateman has been rescinded on appeal.

Second-rower Bateman had been suspended for dissent to referee Chris Kendall but was found not guilty by an independent tribunal after Warriors appealed against the Rugby Football League's ruling.

Bateman will therefore be available for Wednesday's visit of Leeds Rhinos but Isa will miss that game plus matches against Castleford, Warrington and Hull FC.

"These little indiscretions keep popping up and it's not good enough," said Warriors coach Adrian Lam.

"I'm trying to promote the fact that we need to be disciplined. We need to keep our heads and coolness.

"There was a lot of emotion last weekend and that has to be taken into consideration when making these decisions."
