Denis Betts: Widnes head coach wants consistency after two wins

Widnes players celebrate
Widnes have scored 14 tries in their opening two games this season

Widnes Vikings head coach Denis Betts has targeted more consistent performances from his side after topping the Super League table after two games.

The Vikings ran in 10 tries as they thrashed defending champions Leeds on Sunday, having opened their campaign with victory at Wakefield.

"Can we be consistent over the next two weeks?" 46-year-old Betts told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"That's our challenge now and ahead."

The Vikings finished ninth before the Super 8s split last season and then second in the Qualifiers to confirm their place in the top flight this term.

"I've been confident in the group for the past two or three months coming out of our pre-season games," Betts said.

"We're pretty healthy at the moment and touch wood that continues.

"We're putting a good side on the field, there is confidence and there is a real unity in the group."
