Warrington Wolves: James Laithwaite out for rest of season
Warrington forward James Laithwaite will miss the rest of the season with a spiral fracture of the fibula.
The 23-year-old was hurt late in the first half of Saturday's Challenge Cup quarter-final win over Leigh and was carried from the field on a stretcher.
"I'm gutted for the kid," said Wolves coach Tony Smith. "He was filling in for us at centre and doing a fine job. He's obviously finished for the year."
Laithwaite is the latest player to be added to a lengthy injury list.
Captain Joel Monaghan and centre Chris Bridge both missed the 34-24 win over Championship leaders Leigh, with Monaghan expected to be out for about four weeks with a torn calf muscle.
Full-back Stefan Ratchford was passed fit to play against the Centurions but, even with him available, Smith only had 18 fit players to choose from.
