Wigan winger Anthony Gelling has been ruled out for three months and scrum-half Matty Smith could also face a spell on the sidelines.

Gelling, 22, suffered a broken collarbone in the 46-6 win over Salford and could be out for around 14 weeks.

The Cook Islands international was making his first appearance since recovering from a knee problem.

Smith, 25, picked up a shoulder injury in the same match and is due to be assessed later this week.

"We won't know the extent of Matty's shoulder problem until the swelling goes down," said head coach Shaun Wane.

"But Gells will probably be out for about 14 weeks. It's a blow for him but he will come back stronger and, in the meantime, it provides an opportunity for someone else."
