Wakefield Wildcats sign Oliver Wilkes and Ryan Tongia

Wakefield

Wakefield have signed Harlequins prop forward Oliver Wilkes and Cronulla Sharks full-back Ryan Tongia.

Wilkes, 31, who had a spell with Wakefield in 2008 and 2009 has signed a two-year deal starting in 2012.

Tongia, a 21-year-old Papua New Guinean, joins until the end of this season in a bid to earn a longer deal.

Wildcats chief executive James Elston said: "Oli is a fantastic signing for us. He was a very popular player with our fans when he was here before."

Chairman Andrew Glover said: "Ryan will be a much needed, added boost for us as we reach the final few games of the season.

"His NRL experience and passion for the game will be a great asset to the side," Glover added.

"With the opportunity of signing a longer contract with the club, Ryan will be eager to demonstrate exactly what he is capable of and I'm sure we will see the best of him in the next few weeks."

Tongia, who made two appearances for Papua New Guinea at the 2010 Four Nations, can play at either wing or full-back.
