Holly Dunford: SportsAid One-to-Watch award goes to world junior rowing champion

World junior rowing champion Holly Dunford has become the latest recipient of the SportsAid One-to-Watch award.

Former winners include Olympic diver Tom Daley, shooter Amber Hill and athlete Morgan Lake.

Dunford, 18, beat wheelchair racer Craig Boardman and BMX rider Beth Shriever - both junior world champions in their sports - to the annual prize.

The Surrey teenager will now receive an additional £1,250 to help with her sporting costs.

Dunford won gold for Great Britain at the World Championships in Lithuania this summer, alongside Zoe Adamson in the women's double.

She also impressed with three first-place finishes in the single sculls at the GB Rowing Team Junior trials, and set a new national record for under-18s on the indoor rowing machine.

SportsAid was set up in 1976 and has provided grants to tens of thousands of British athletes, including Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Sir Mo Farah and Sir Steve Redgrave.

Its alumni combined to win nearly three-quarters of the 214 medals won by Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics in Rio.
