The Irish boxer who failed a drugs test in the build-up to the Rio Olympics has officially launched an appeal against his proposed suspension.

The boxer's legal team lodged an appeal at noon on Sunday.

The Olympic Council of Ireland said the fighter is provisionally suspended from competition after an "adverse analytical" finding in an A-sample.

An independent disciplinary panel will now convene in Dublin as the formal appeals' process gets underway.
