Eugene Laverty finished 14th at the Aragon MotoGP round in Spain on Sunday.
The Aspar Ducati rider came home 37.6 seconds behind race winner Marc Marquez, who claimed his fourth victory of the season to move a step closer to securing a third title success.
Laverty, who will compete in World Superbikes on an Aprilia next season, is 11th in the standings on 71 points.
World champion Jorge Lorenzo was 2.74 seconds behind Marquez in second, with Valentino Rossi completing the rostrum.
Spaniard Marquez now the leads the championship on 248 points, with Rossi on 196 and Lorenzo on 182.
Irishman Laverty's best finish this year is a fourth place in Argentina in early April.
The next round of the series will take place in Japan on 16 October, followed by races in Australia, Malaysia and Valencia.
