British Superbikes: Laverty eighth in Knockhill race

Michael Laverty has dropped to tied seventh in the British Superbike Championship after coming in eighth in the Knockhill opener on Sunday.

The Toomebridge rider, who started the day fifth in the standings, could only manage 21st in race two.

Carrickfergus duo Glenn Irwin (11th and DNF) and Alastair Seeley (15th and 18th) were also in Superbike action.

Keith Farmer won the Superstock 1000cc race while Derriaghy's Carl Phillips secured a Superstock 600cc victory.

Andy Reid slipped to second in the Supersport series after failing to complete the sprint race before finishing eighth in the feature event.

The Jordanstown man is now now 22 points behind leader James Westmoreland.
