Tyrone ace Ryan McMenamin retires from inter-county football
Tyrone's Ryan McMenamin has announced his retirement from inter-county football after 13 years of service to the Red Hand county.
McMenamin told manager Mickey Harte of his decision on Monday night, but will continue to play for his club Dromore.
The 35-year-old won three All-Ireland medals during his career and collected an All Star in 2005.
McMenamin captained Tyrone in 2006, when he deputised for the injured Brian Dooher, and won five Ulster SFC titles.
He began his county career as a corner-back before moving to the half-back line, where he became a regular scorer.
"I thought about it for a long time but the time has come for me to move on," McMenamin told the Irish News.
"After playing 13 years you kind of think you could still play on, but I want to be fit to continue to play for Dromore and give them 100 per cent while I still can," he added.
