Superleague side Manchester Thunder have promoted Karen Greig from assistant to director of netball.

The former England shooter, who has been at the club since 2002, has worked as number two to Tracey Neville and Dan Ryan since 2013.

Ryan guided Thunder to the final last year, where they lost to Surrey, but has moved to Adelaide Thunderbirds.

"When the opportunity came up it was just something I couldn't turn down," she said.

"Thunder is in my blood and accepting this position means that I can continue to build on the successes since its resurrection over the past eight years."
